I've been obsessively going over @ed_piskor X-Men Grand Design since I've gotten the issues. I'm in love with these books, studying them the same way I study Burns, Crumb, Inio and Otomo. I think I found a mistake in issue 2 on these speech bubbles? *edit* after seeing what Ed wrote I went through the issue, checking it out. There are a lot of great "borderless" panels but there are always a bit of border somewhere in there, where is be a corner or caption borders. Thanks for the insight @ed_piskor #edpiskor #xmen #comics #afeaturenotaflaw #marvel #comics #granddesign

X-Men Grand Design by Ed Piskor Grand Design is the first part of a series by cartoonist Ed Piskor. Piskor is best know for his series “Hip Hop Family Tree” where he chronicles the history of hip hop and the major events and big players in that scene. Admittedly that is a pretty niche market, so I’ll forgive you if you’ve never heard of him or the series (but you should totally track it down). X-Men Grand Design is basically the same concept. The issue centers on Uatu the watcher chronicling the early days of the X-Men to The Recorder ( not A recorder, THE recorder. It’s an old Thor character...). Piskor writes and draws the series and does a great job with his presentation of 50 years of convoluted X-Men stories. The art may not be for everyone since it more of a “deep” independent comic style. The story reads a lot like a high quality Wikipedia article. But that’s a good thing! There is so much story involved in this book. At a $5.99 price tag this is a comic worth it’s value! If you’re an X-Men fan you should really be reading this. If the X-Men always seemed to big and their was just too much history involved this this is for you as well. All in all I’m on board add it’s a welcome addition to my pull list.
