OMG‼️ Finally‼️ My Niece can have her dad back after 21 years‼️‼️‼️ what a HUGE BLESSING‼️ and Hes right on time to see his Grandaughter born‼️ LOOK AT GOD.. ALWAYS ON TIME... emotionally Happy .. A man who alleges Chicago police sliced the tips of his shoes with a paper cutter during his interrogation for two gang-related killings has been ordered released from custody after 21 years in prison. The decision Thursday to resentence Jaime Hauad to time served came after the Cook County state’s attorney’s office reviewed the case and agreed with the defense team to his release. "I want to thank the state’s attorney’s for the investigation and giving (me) back my life," Hauad told Judge William Gamboney. Hauad, now 37, could be released from prison as early as Friday. The Chicago Tribune first highlighted Hauad's case in a front-page story in 2014 that included photos of the sliced Fila sneakers and the dramatic account of how Hauad got the shoes to his mother with the help of another arrestee he knew from his neighborhood on Chicago’s Northwest Side. In agreeing to Hauad’s release, prosecutors did not acknowledge his innocence. As a result, attorneys for Hauad plan to continue to fight to clear his name. The case had gone before Gamboney at the Leighton Criminal Court Building after the Illinois Torture and Relief Commission found that there was credible evidence Hauad, was tortured during the 1997 interrogation at the former Grand Central detective area. He was 17 at the time. Hauad's mother, sitting in the spectator gallery, wiped a tear from her eye Thursday after her son walked into Gamboney’s courtroom.
