4:44 is the 13th album by JAY Z, and I believe it has potential to become a classic. The album kicks off with “Kill Jay Z” which is a diss track towards himself, or as Jigga said, “killing the ego.” The next track, “The Story of O.J.” is a banger with a beautiful subject matter. No I.D. uses the “Four Women” sample by Nina Simone. “The Story of O.J.” is tied with “4:44” for being the best song on the album. Smile is a song about positivity and takes his mom out of the closet in the first verse. My highlight of that song is when JAY Z snaps on that third verse. He killed it. Later, his mom speaks a poem that is basicall about her being in the closet. It is a beautiful track all together. “Caught Their Eyes” with Frank Ocean is a sick song. JAY Z is talking about his way of survival in the world, in a way. He talks about the fakes, and the backstabbers. Frank Ocean’s interlude at the end is the highlight of the song for me. “4:44” is a beautiful song, but there isn’t much to say about it. JAY Z is apologizing to Beyoncé for cheating on her. He also apologizes to ladies for “being emotionless.” “Family Feud” is what JAY said it was, “the state of the culture.” “Nobody wins when the family feuds” is him saying that everyone in the game should be united, which I find ironic because he is feuding with Kanye! “Bam” is just Hov flexing. This is the exact opposite of “Kill Jay Z.” JAY says that the summary of the song is “sometimes you need you need the ego.” “Moonlight” also talking about the state of the game in a negative way. He talks about the fake gangsters, snitches, and just the trash rappers in general being stuck in “La La Land” and the song is called “Moonlight” which is a nod to the Oscar controversy. “Marcy Me” is JAY Z’s rise to fame. On the first verse, JAY Z is reminiscing. The second is JAY Z just spitting and talking about where he is now. “Legacy” is a beautiful outro to a beautiful album. According to Genius (I agree with this), “Legacy” is about the Carter family name. All of these tracks have some replay value. I believe 4:44 is album of the year. #jayz #jigga #hov #sean #carter #seancarter #444 #album #oj #rap #aoty follow @rapjunky (me)

Even if you think @eminem has fallen off and lost relevance, you have to admit he gave an electric performance on @nbcsnl tonight He performed ‘Walk On Water’, ‘Love The Way You Lie’ & ‘Stan’. Even thought his performance may have relied a little on nostalgia, he did give it his all and it made for a great live performance. His new album ‘Revival’ seems to be right around the corner, as the teases for it are intensifying. Despite it being called revival, is it just me, or does Eminem just seem off at the moment? He just looks tired and seems really unhinged. Not to sound like his mum, but I am a little worried about him. I wasn’t a crazy fan of ‘Walk On Water’ and it did get a mixed response, maybe that’s the reason why? He usually gets nothing but praise for his releases so maybe he is taken back by this. I think when ‘Revival’ drops it will be an unusual listen and fans of Slim Shady may be taken back as I don’t think this will be like anything he has released before. 🤔 Anyways, for the meantime check out his SNL performance online if you haven’t already
